The material is smooth, so bamboo knitwear is less visible under clothing than thicker cotton. It is also more elastic to the touch and lighter, which is important for high-waisted models worn all day.

The disadvantage of bamboo is its lower resistance to mechanical wear: the fiber is weaker when wet, so wash bamboo underwear at 30 degrees, on a short cycle, without strong spinning, and dry flat away from a radiator. With such treatment, it retains its softness much longer.

Bamboo in underwear is most often bamboo viscose – a fiber produced from cellulose obtained from this plant. Knitwear made from it is noticeably smoother than cotton, cooler to the touch, and wicks away moisture better, making it suitable for summer and for people who find ordinary cotton rough.

What should you watch out for? Bamboo viscose is weaker when wet than cotton, so it doesn't tolerate twisting and high spin speeds well. Wash at 30 degrees, without bleach, and dry flat or on a line without stretching. With such care, the knitwear will retain its smoothness for a long time.
