Fabric and comfort

They fall into two groups. Knitted ones, in cotton or with added wool, are thick and warm, often with a ribbed welt. Fine ones, in stretch knit, hug the leg and add a layer under trousers without adding bulk.

When buying, look at the welt at the top and the bottom: that is what decides whether the warmers stay in place. Styles with a wide welt and added elastane hold better than pure cotton, which stretches out after a few hours.

Choose your size by calf measurement and leg length; with one-size styles, check the stated stretch in the description. Wash at 30 degrees and dry flat, because hung on a line they lose shape under their own weight. Free delivery over PLN 199, 14-day returns.

When choosing, look at the composition. Wool and acrylic give warmth, cotton with elastane is lighter and less itchy, and added polyamide improves resistance to wear. Look at the top elastic as well: too strong and it leaves a mark on the thigh, too weak and the warmers slide down.

Which style to choose

Leg warmers are narrow footless warmers worn on bare legs, over tights or over leggings. There are 20 of them in this collection, mostly from the Cerber line, alongside styles by Milena. They differ in length, in the density of the knit, and in whether they have a welt at the top.

Shorter styles, reaching past the calf, are worn with ankle boots to cover the exposed section of leg. Longer ones, above the knee, act as a warming layer under a dress or skirt. Cable-knit fabric is thicker and warmer, while smooth knit is closer-fitting and sits better inside a narrow boot.

Washing and care

Loosely knitted leg warmers are best washed in a mesh bag and dried spread out on a towel. Hung on a line they stretch under their own weight, and after a few washes they are noticeably longer, with a welt that no longer grips the calf.
