How to choose your size

It gives just enough structure for the bust to keep a rounded shape with no nipple showing through, without adding any volume.

It is a good choice when full foam feels too thick and too warm, while a completely soft cup does not give enough support. It works all year round, including summer, because a thin layer of fabric heats up less than a moulded cup.

Pay attention to how the cup is built: styles with a horizontal seam dividing the cup lift the bust higher, while those with a diagonal seam bring it towards the centre. The underwire should enclose the whole breast and end at the underarm - if it sits on breast tissue, the band or the cup is the wrong size.

Which style to choose

Lightly padded styles are a compromise between a soft cup and a heavily moulded one. The padding here is thin, often only in the lower part of the cup, so the bra gives a light shape but does not impose a form of its own and does not add volume the way a push-up does.

What should you look at when buying? Whether the pad is sewn in permanently or slipped into a pocket - the second version lets you take it out and change the character of the style. The edge of the cup: a thin layer folds over more easily, so the hem should be flat. And the underwire, because it is the wire, not the padding, that provides the support.

What else is worth checking

When does such a choice make sense? Above all when you want no outline of the nipple under a thin blouse and at the same time do not want firm foam. It also works in summer - a thin layer heats up less than full moulding.

Washing and care

Washing is worth keeping in mind too. Thin foam does not tolerate high temperatures or spinning at high speed - it folds over and, once dry, keeps a crease that can no longer be smoothed out. A mesh bag and drying flat solve this problem.
