Which style to choose

Sister sizes for 70G: 65H, 75F. If 70G fits well around the band but the cup digs in or gapes, reach for a sister size instead of changing only the letter — the cup volume stays similar and it is the band that changes.

What to look out for

With a larger cup, look for styles with wide side panels, a firm band and broader straps. Soft underwired cups often hold better than rigid moulded foam.

70G is one of the harder sizes to shop for, because it combines the narrowest common band with a very roomy cup. The difference between the measurements here is close to thirty centimetres. In practice that means ordinary styles with a flat, one-piece cup have no chance of holding their shape, and all the weight falls on a short band.

A common trap is buying 75F or 80E simply because shops carry more of them. They are sister sizes, but they differ in band tension, and with a cup this large a looser band immediately shifts the weight onto the shoulders and ends in a sore neck after a few hours.

A similar cup volume on a deeper band is in 75F. If you need a shallower cup in the same band, check 70F. We have gathered the measuring instructions on our bra sizes page. It is also worth knowing that with this letter the vast majority of styles come in series with matching briefs, so putting a set together is easier than finding the right cup in the first place. If you come across a construction that sits properly, order it in two colours straight away.

Constructions that work in this number share a few features: a cup made of several panels, a long wire running high under the arm, a firmer side and straps that are wide and sewn closer to the spine. The fabric matters too, because lace with a mesh base stretches less than a smooth, thin knit.
