12 DEN is one of the thinnest tights on the market. DEN is a unit of yarn mass: the number of grams per 9000 meters of fiber. The higher the value, the thicker the thread, and thus the denser, more opaque, and warmer knit. They give the effect of slightly evened skin and are practically invisible up close. They are worn in summer and spring, as well as under long dresses, when the goal is solely leg smoothness, not coverage.

Such thin knitwear is susceptible to snagging. Remove rings before putting them on, gather the tights into an accordion, and pull them on gradually, rather than pulling from the top.

Tights size is chosen based on height and weight combined, according to the manufacturer's chart - clothing size is misleading here. Tights that are too small pull at the crotch and tear faster on the thighs; those that are too large wrinkle at the ankle and slide down at the waist. 12 DEN is one of the sheerest densities used in hosiery. The product is distinctly transparent, almost invisible on the leg, and primarily intended for warm days – it provides a smooth finish to the silhouette without a warming effect.

Such fine yarn requires caution when putting on. Hosiery should be gathered into an accordion and gradually pulled up from the toes, not tugged from the waist – this is the most common cause of snags during the first use. It's also a good idea to remove rings and check that fingernails are free of snags.
