Fabrics and comfort

Comfort comes down to three things: the width of the waistband, the stretch of the fabric and the finish on the side edges. Styles with a wider waistband and soft elastic do not dig in when you sit down, and seamless versions, bonded rather than stitched, are the least noticeable. A cotton gusset is a hygiene standard worth checking in lace styles too.

The collection includes cotton thongs for everyday wear, lace thongs to match a bra, smooth microfibre ones for close-fitting clothes and seamless styles. Choose your size by the hip measurement; if you are between sizes, go smaller in a fabric with elastane and larger in lace without elastane.

What should you look at? The width of the side straps - too narrow and they dig in when you sit. The fabric in the gusset: a cotton panel is standard, in lace styles too. And the edge finish - bonded and laser-cut edges are the least visible, while edges bound with elastic give you more certainty that nothing will roll.

Which style to choose

The style comes in several variants. Classic thongs have a narrow strap at the back and full coverage at the front. Tangas have a slightly wider back, so they are more comfortable over a longer day. Brazilian briefs, although often listed in the same group, already cover part of the bottom and form the bridge to ordinary knickers.

Washing and care

It is also worth rotating them. Narrow pieces with elastic wear out faster than full briefs, because all the pressure is concentrated on a small area. Washing in a mesh bag and skipping the tumble dryer noticeably extend how long a pair keeps its shape.
