Full briefs cover the buttocks and offer the most comfort throughout the day. Bikinis are a version with a lower rise and narrower sides. Brazilian briefs expose part of the buttocks at the back while maintaining full sides, making them a compromise between briefs and thongs. Thongs minimize visibility under tight clothing. Hipsters and women's boxers have a longer leg, don't roll up when walking, and work well with trousers. High-waisted briefs hug the waist and stomach, and high-waisted shorts additionally serve a shaping function.

The material is chosen for the situation: cotton for everyday wear, microfiber for fitted fabrics, lace when appearance or an invisible edge matters, functional knitwear for training. Bamboo and modal are smoother and cooler to the touch than cotton.

What to watch out for? The elastic – hidden in a tunnel, it rolls less often than sewn on top. Side seams, which can leave marks under tight trousers. And size: panties are chosen by hip circumference, not by trouser size, and these two values don't always go hand in hand.

Replace your underwear when the elastic loses its elasticity or the fabric starts to become transparent. A stretched model stops fulfilling its role, even if there are no visible damages.
